A man was passing by, he saw some elephants held by just a small rope. He became confused as there were no chains, no cages yet the huge elephants did not make any attempt to break free, even though it was obvious they could!
Then, the man saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “When they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe the rope can still hold them and they cannot break away,so they never try to break free.”
There are many people held by a small rope of disempowering belief! Like the elephants in this story, they never make any attempt to break from that chain of self-imposed limitations. They believe that because they have failed before, they can never succeed ever again! What a limiting belief?
